While She Knits

Summer is over, school has started, Megan is back in Ohio knitting a new pair of socks for her upcoming trip to Boston as a Boston-Globe Horn Book Awards Honoree, and [livejournal.com profile] thesehnsucht 's recent post brings to mind just how long it has been since we had a WSK conversation.

What books have you read recently that really left an impression on you?  What are the ones on your To Be Read or Upcoming New Release lists that you are simply itching to get at?

Seer of Sevenwaters by Juliet Marillier is coming out in December, but I think what I'm most looking forward to is Blackveil by Kristen Britain. It comes out in February (So technically not this year, but I always use the schoolyear) and I am SO EXCITED!!!! I cannot WAIT to get my hands on that book!!!!!

OH I just read Son of the Shadows and I LOVED it. I'm so excited it's a series!

Have you read Daughter of the Forest? That's the first one (And my personal favorite). The fourth book is Heir to Sevenwaters, which I also loved. I love all these books, Marillier is great at writing romance! However I did hate Child of the Prophecy with a passion...I could barely get through that book.

I haven't read it yet - my library doesn't have it (or Child of the Prophecy, for that matter) - but I did request it from another library system.

I might cancel my request for Child of the Prophecy, though. It's not about Johnny? :( I thought it would be, since he seems to be the child of the prophecy.

Johnny is in it, but he's not the main character. The book is about Niam's daughter. If you want to see all the loose ends tied up and the bad guys defeated and whatnot, then read it. I've read reviews, and it seems a lot of people like it just fine, if not as much as the other books.

Niam's daughter? ... But ... I wanted more Liadan :( I'll probably read it anyway, though, just to see what happens.

Liadan is in there plenty - mostly in the second half of the book. In the first half there's a lot of Sean and his kids. Heir to Sevenwaters is about one of Sean's daughters.
