Puppeteer, at your service
Nov. 19th, 2007 01:54 pmHello sounis!
I've finally decided to introduce myself. I occasionally hang around chatzy. I've left comments before, but I posted them as savvywriter. In case you are wondering, yes I am a professional puppeteer. No, I have never had a puppet attempt to murder me. The only reason I got a livejournal account is because of this community.
Ummm what else?
I have seven brothers- one older, 6 younger and one older sister...with the same parents (watches everyones eyes bulge out).
I live in the USA.
I have never been out of the USA, though most of the members of my family have been at least once.
I love reading books, though lately I've had to stick to unabridged audiobooks, because I've had to multi-task
I love animals (especially cats...when they're not snotty)
I like to read books aloud to my brothers and do all the voices
I first read The Thief several years ago. I can't remember when exactly, but I thought "Wow, what a great book. I wish there were more books like that." And when I spotted QoA in the shelf at the library, and KoA in the new books section, I pretty much freaked out and had a wonderful weekend reading them both. The good thing is that I found the books in the order you read them in. The annoying thing is that I didn't have to wait to read any of them, and now I'm waiting (and waiting and waiting and waiting) along with the rest of you all for the next book.
That's pretty much me.

I didn't find QoA or KoA until last year sometime. I had assumed that the Thief was a standalone, and I found its descendants by accident. But now I am eagerly awaiting the next, as you are!

Date: 11/20/07 05:29 am (UTC)I guess, since this an 'introduction' thread I should say "Welcome!" but that seems slightly odd after I've been talking to you in chatzy for a good while... but even so... WELCOME! :)

Date: 11/20/07 03:14 pm (UTC)Puppets ect
Date: 11/20/07 03:31 pm (UTC)My favorite type of puppet to work is the marionette. Marionettes are different from all other puppets in that you are working with gravity instead of against it. My second favorite would be hand puppets. I have done shows with marionettes, hand and rod puppets, and shadow puppets (shadow puppets are not usually holding your hands up to a light and making a duck on the wall. It's more like this: http://www.collaboratorstheatre.co.uk/pics/shadow4.jpg
Right now I'm working on a Little Red Riding Hood show, based on a painting by Tasha Tudor from her book The Doll's Christmas.

Date: 11/20/07 04:48 pm (UTC)Wouldn't the seventh child be the one you are apeaking of? And wouldn't that child be lucky? Seven is generally seen as a lucky number, yes?

Date: 11/20/07 05:12 pm (UTC)I'm the oldest of seven natural brothers and sisters. (That sounds odd, because the brothers are almost the youngest, but it also sounds odd the other way.)
That's so cool you read to your brothers... I sometimes read to my siblings as well, and I try to do voices. Does that ability help in your puppeteering?
