Seems like in QoA the guard wore quilted uniforms, because I remember the Eddisians making ones like them for Gen and the others to wear when they went to steal the queen. Then in KoA they had a metal breastplate, sandals, um...a skirt thingy? Maybe something like this (http://images.buycostumes.com/mgen/merchandiser/21615.jpg)? But not so gaudy.
