I hope everyone enjoyed our first community reread of Return of the Thief. Thanks to all who participated! We're going to be taking a break from chats for a bit due to the usual business of the Holiday season, but not before giving everyone a chance to discuss their favorite books of the year. Join your fellow reprobates in the Conspiracy Room Sunday, December 12th at 6pm CT for an end of the year wrap up chat to discuss which books you read this year that were your favorite and which turned out to be duds. I hope you can join us for the final chat of the year!

To kick off the new year, [livejournal.com profile] sounis will be hosting our second WSK Book Club read in January. WSK stands for "while she knits" and is a long standing communuty catch phrase to talk about other books while MWT is "knitting" her next masterpiece. A Diana Wynn Jones series was at the top of the list for our next pick, and we all decided on the Howl's Moving Castle series to read and discuss. This will be a reread for many of you, and if you haven't already read this series, I highly reccomend it for QT fans. The character of Howl was the chief inspiration for Eugenides, and one of the many iconic lines in QT is a direct reference to Howl's Moving Castle. There are three books in the series, that we will be covering on a bi-weekly basis, and the first book was adapted by Studio Ghibli into a feature film. (If you've only seen the movie, the book is soooo much better.) Each book is a self-contained story taking place in the same universe, often with appearances from characters from previous books. This series should be readily available from public libraries.

Have a schedule... )

If you missed our WSK Book Club chats for The Squire's Tales, we hope you can join us for HMC. Happy Thanksgiving!
