Husband: "What are you making?"

Me: "Sugared cashews."

Husband: "...Why?"

Me: "I dunno. I saw a recipe, and they sounded good."

What a lie that was. The truth is that I'm rereading "The Return of the Thief", of course, and it's mentioned that the king likes to go down to the kitchen for sweetened nuts...which made me decide immediately that I also had to have some sweetened nuts. 

It's all part of the ongoing quest to eat all of the foods from Eddis, Attolia, and Sounis, not just gloppy oatmeal and oranges (the small, lump kind that are hard to peel, but juicy and sweet). Every time I eat the delicious marinated sheep & goat cheese from Meredith Dairy, I think about how it would be good for all members of the court since it has soft cheese for spreading as well as oil for dipping bread....
