Oh, I like that thought. Maybe that's why the tradition of Thief and all its trappings sprung up. Different technicalities with the Gift but the same effect. So maybe the Gift works as long as you're doing your best to get it to your candidate for the throne? Except, I wonder how many thieves got to the throne room and took the stone and still couldn't get out of the maze.
