Gen's father is Helen's uncle, and after Gen wallops Teleus at the end of KoA he says something along these lines (pardon the paraphrase): "Like every man, I had two grandfathers. One of mine was Eddis."
So I conclude from this that Gen's father and Helen's father (who preceded her as sovereign and therefore was most likely the son of the king before that) were brothers.
I'm not sure if Gen's mother was part of the royal family at all before her marriage. If she wasn't, that might explain why so many of Gen's uncles and cousins and so on seem to disdain her -- I think there was something at the end of TT about Gen's relatives suddenly deciding he was something like his father after all.
On the other hand, a lot of the court of Eddis seems to be interrelated, so Gen's mother may have been connected somewhere, too!
