Speculation on Sophos 'Stache

So this is speculation on Sophos 'Stache on the cover on CoK but its also SPOILERish 'cause it is based on something that someone who has read the ARC, but its a comment that been said also in another non-spoiler post. I haven't read the ARC, so its just speculation on my part and not spoilerish?

So I've put the speculation on Sophos 'Stache in the reply and not this post.

Someone posted on Charlotte's blog that after they had read the ARC that the 'stache Sophos has on the cover made sense after they read the book.

So I looked at it closer and it kind of look likes it matches Gen's facial mark.

So if it does, then why doesn't Costis have one. Or does he have one and it is just some place out of view and so he doesn't want to mention it?

Or does Costis get jealous and draw one on himself with charcoal?

That was me who made the comment about it making sense, and no, it has nothing to do with Gen's scar, or wanting to be like Gen... :D

Admittedly, though, I am looking at the cover of the ARC right now and it really does look like a mustache more than anything else, even the thing I think it should be. I don't think that was a bad choice artistically, though (much as I despise mustaches on principle, even when sported by Alan Rickman (http://knightleyemma.files.wordpress.com/2008/08/tmd_cello1.jpg)).

What could THAT possibly be? Seeing as you've read it and even you're not sure what it is.
I wonder....the "thing" that goes under your lip, and is a different color from your hair and is not mustache...That's all I got..any ideas?
It'd be cool if we figured it out before march, if that's even possible!!

I had a dream last night that I got a copy of CoK's and then I held the book in my hands and right as I was about to open it and read it, (in my dream) my mom came in and woke me up and I was like Oh, Ill just read it later! Then I actually woke up..and well..I didn't have the book then. <>

Seriously, to me the weird contrasts are the most intriguing aspects of this very interesting picture.
I particularly like the manacle on his wrist contrasted with the very gorgeous ring on his finger. Very odd!
But tell me, R.J., is there a logical explanation?

A logical explanation for his upper lip to look somewhat odd? Yes.

The manacle and the ring also make logical sense, although the cover isn't a representation of a specific scene from the book but a combination of various elements and motifs from the story (similar to the cover of KoA that way).

Oh, thank you so much! I somehow love how Gen despises horses -- even though I love them, myself!
