I don't think that Gen was hoping Relius would hate Attolia but was using precisely the questions that Relius would ask Gen. Gen took Relius' questions about himself [Gen] and turned them back to Relius as a way of showing that just as Relius could never hate Attolia neither could Gen. This is all predicated on Relius assuming Gen must actually despise Attolia rather than love her because of her treatment of him in QoA.

I've always had trouble deciding exactly what I think about the kiss Gen gives Relius. I don't think it's a romantic thing, more like a gesture of reassurance and affection. And I'm not sure I want to say I know exactly what it's all about because it's Gen! He's tricky!
