I love TV Tropes. On the "Draco in Leather Pants" Trope...does anyone *actually* think Nahuseresh is sexy? I don't remember ever seeing anything like that.

I honestly can't recall anyone ever saying they fount him attractive. Unless it was one of Attolia's waiting ladies?

Yeah, that's who I think it was, one of Attolia's attendents mentioned it but then they all agreed to it, and he IS supposedly "well dressed" and "manly" and everything Gen's not. He kind of reminds of Gaston from Beauty and the Beast. He's so full of it!

And he has a pointy beard! Terrible

"How do you think I did all this if I(...lemme think) was a fool with cow-eyes for every handsome man with a full purse?" (Almost a quote.) Attolia said that to Nahuseresh when they were watching the Battle of Something-or-other. (That was as close as I could remember to the actual thing.)

That page is full of awesome, but do any of the schemes really qualify as Xanatos Gambits? There are plenty of feints and long games, but lots of the schemes definitely risk failure. I think the closest there actually is to a Xanatos Gambit is Atollia's dealings with Nahuseresh. (And no, I don't find him attractive in the least.)

Gen is the master of making people underestimate him and of the insanely risky plan that succeeds partially because nobody else would think that way, but that is a bit different.

"There are some rough spots, but The King of Attolia is one long exercise in Squee."

Everytime I try to re-read KoA, I just flip around saying "I love this book" to no one and then I never actually re-read it.
