Just in case anyone else is interested, they're discussing MWT's books over at The Enchanted Inkpot.

For an entire MONTH? This will be one heckuva month. Two communities to stalk! Haha.

I have to admit, I find it rather amusing that as fussy as they are about who can join, the discussion so far is pretty uninteresting. And perhaps they should learn about capital letters, being professionals and all. (Why yes, I'm being catty. But I'm old and an editor, and it is pretty ironic, imo.)

PS - Love your icon.

I can't join, either. I'm both an editor and a published writer, but not of YA. And I'm going to check out that comm/user now. Thanks.

Actually, their current membership requirements (http://community.livejournal.com/enchantedinkpot/9105.html) don't say that as an author your works need to be YA/MG. So you sound golden.

And lack of capitalization seems to be Cindy Pon's thing (http://reluctantadults.blogspot.com/2009/02/league-interview-with-cindy-pon-or-ill.html) (or perhaps she would prefer cindy pon). Not sure why, but after recently discovering that Sarah Rees Brennan only recently discovered that you don't need the Caps Lock key to create capital letters, I've decided that maybe the lack of capital letters on the internet is more due to ignorance in typing rather than bad grammar. But then, SRB always properly capitalized everything properly anyway. That's true writerly dedication.

I, however, can't yet become a member because I'm not listed in CWIM, so far as I know. Maybe it'll count since the agency I'm at was listed (most likely; seriously, who uses books to research agents anymore?). I'd love to join to liven up the conversation. There's only so many ways people can say, "Yeah, the POV stuff is awesome!"

You don't need to be a member of the community to post. They might be restricting people from posting anonymously, but I'm not a community member, just a regular Livejournal member and I posted just fine.

MWT Love!

It just brightens my heart to read this MWT love. I love our small, yet passionate fanbase. I just want everyone to have the chance to read these magnificent books. They are so much more deserving than other popular series.

This. I'm so glad we all have this community to squee and discuss with. (And I'm sad I won't be around this community much for the next couple years, seeing as how I'll be leaving... but I'm over it. Mostly. ;-)

You're leaving??? To go where? We'll all miss you.

Um, Enchanted Inkpot is supposed to be a discussion between a group of MG/YA fantasy writers who post formally, on a schedule (mostly fantasy topics and author interviews), and all kinds of people who join in the conversation in the comments. Without comment participation, it's kind of pointless, actually (spoken as someone who's written some of those posts!). EI is a little like a small magazine, except that it's far more interactive.

I'm not on the membership committee, but I believe it's all done using ancient metallic dice in the shape of animal heads.

I'm rather attached to capital letters, personally.

And I keep wondering where everyone gets these gorgeous icons!

I'm new to this community, but I have to say, it's a relief to be able to express my belief that MWT's writing is astonishingly superior to most other books in the field--and know that other people GET it!

Ooooh, I'd like a set of those dice. And I didn't realize that (as you and [livejournal.com profile] drashizu have pointed out) anyone can comment there. But the discussion here definitely does seem to be broader, deeper and more interesting. Although, to be fair, I haven't checked over there in the last few days, so maybe things have gone in new directions since then.

This is definitely a rich conversation--I'm so glad I found it!
