Yeah, that's true, but I think with a good makeup artist she might look a bit younger. And I do think Irene is about 27 or so...

According to all the "let's discuss age" posts, her age has apparently been reasoned out to be about 19. ^^ Not that I'd know myself, but that's what everyone else seems to think, based off of the little hints in the books....

Based on concrete canon facts that have been collected on Eugenides Wiki...

Eugenides's age is never specified in the books, but based on a few facts his general age can be inferred. Eugenides was ten in the Thief! short-story printed in Disney Adventures magazine. In this story, Helen's brothers have just died; but her father is still alive, meaning Thief! takes place just a few short months before she becomes queen. It is specified in the Eddis short-story, published in The King of Attolia paperback, that Helen is five years older then Eugenides, (about fifteen years old in the story Thief!). That would make her fifteen or sixteen when she became queen. In The Queen of Attolia, it is mentioned that Helen has been queen for seven years. Therefore she is approximately twenty-two in the middle of The Queen of Attolia, and Eugenides is seventeen.

...Helen is most certainly 22 in the middle of QoA. Irene is described as "being a few years older". "A few" is at least three. Irene is, at the very least, 25 in the middle of QoA if not older.

Ooh, based on these pictures I'd say she would be perfect! Especially her expression (probably helped by the red she's wearing) in the second to last picture match so very well my mental image! (Also, the cocking of an eybrow made me squee!)

yeah pretty much. Attolia is probably, at least, twenty-five. Which would actually put her I think becoming queen around the same age Eddis does, just a few years earlier.

Oh yes, she's breathtaking. Can you believe when she made that movie she was about almost 40? While she's still gorgeous now though she's too old to play Attolia.

Yeah, somehow I can't picture Attolia being 19.
Just to add a few more details:
According to the short story Eddis, Eddis is five years younger than Helen (he was four when she was nine). In TT, Gen talks about how he tore up his enrollment papers for the army about two years ago, and in QoA Eddis mentions how Gen did not wait to tear up his papers after his mother's death (she died when he was ten). Thus in TT Gen was probably about 12 and Eddis about 17. I would say that by the end of QoA Gen would be about 15 or 16, Helen about 20 or 21 and Attolia probably 23 or 24. Helen having ruled for 7 years does seem to contradict some of the other clues though...hmm...

See, I always thought that the tearing-up-of-papers didn't happen until later. I think it says Gen "hadn't waited to tell his father his intentions to be the next Thief of Eddis" after his mother's death. The enrollment papers could have come later. I can't imagine the army enrolling 10-yr-olds, though I suppose it's possible.

If Eddis was 15 when she became queen, and had ruled for 7 yrs in QoA, she'd be 22. Gen is 5 yrs younger, so he'd be 17 in QoA, 15 or so in Thief.

God, this age talk never gets old, does it? :)

I know! It seems like this is something we could talk about for hours and still never get anywhere! But you're right about the 7-year reign, and that's what I meant when I said that it doesn't really fit with the rest of the clues, or you have to interpret the other clues differently to make it fit. Either way, Gen is somewhere in his teens in QoA, Eddis somewhere in or very close to her twenties and Attolia is slightly older ~ I think beyond that it doesn't really matter what the specifics are (though it's always fun to debate). ;)

That is absolutely the best Sophos I've ever seen. Seriously. I'm saving that picture to my computer, to look at later. Holy wow.

To be honest, Rachel Blakely looks almost exactly like my mental image of Hephestia, except her hair is a bit dark. And I picture Irene like a younger, darker haired, not-so-goddessish Hephestia. So... Also a thumbs up.
