[identity profile] icastlecaptured.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] queensthief
Hello everybody, I've been hanging around here for quite some time and have, you know, been taking baby steps towards actually participating in the community.  Well, I've finally got up the courage to post some drawings I've done of Attolia and Eddis (these are actually the second set I've done - I waited so long on the first that they past their expiration dates and I could see all my mistakes).  Anyhow, I hope you like them!  I had fun drawing them anyhow.

I believe you can find bigger versions by clicking on them

I had some fun doing Attolia's hair.  My default image of her is with her hair down, but in the books she's described as having it braided and pinned, so I had to figure out how to have it both ways!

I like to draw Eddis' clothes with a bit of a layered look.  Maybe something to do with her country's cold climate?  Anyhow, I tried making the pin on her look look a bit like a griffin, but I'm not sure it worked.  Ah well.

Well, I think it's probably obvious that this is the first time I've done this, so advice on how the fix anything I've messed up is welcome!  This is a wonderful place and I love everything you guys come up with.  You're the best.

You need to have quotation marks in your lj-cut code, just like when you're embedding an image.

also, the lj-cut code only works in HTML mode, not rich text mode. Just switch over and retype it.

These are absolutely beautiful!
I'm not so sure about Attolia's dress but I do love Eddis' layers.

Oh, whoops. I just assumed you were using HTML mode. I tend to forget the rich text editor even exists.

Whenever I think of long hair, braided and pinned, Elisabeth of Austria comes to mind. This page has some pictures showing her - take a look at the hair! http://www.hofburg-wien.at/en/things-to-know/tour-of-the-hofburg/death.html (Also there's a death mask. She was 60 when she died; pity there wasn't a life mask done of her when she was in her 20's!) There's also the Winterhalter portrait of her with diamond star clips in her hair. And braids, of course. (It's odd - mostly her photographs are much more beautiful than her portraits. They give her this simper in the portraits....)

Oh, niiice! You has talent. And I can sort of see the griffin-ness. Eddis on the whole has a very natural pose and expression. Yay!

Weeeelll, I always imagined her with kind of . . . flowy dresses I guess. Big sleeves yes. And embroidary but more swish, y'know?
I just think the dress in your picture is too clunky. Although, that's only my idea. :)
