Today I met two amazing Authors: Sarah Rees Brennan (author of The Demon's Lexicon) and Holly Black (author of The Spiderwick Chronicles).

They both gave a lovely (and hilarious) presentation at our school and then a friend and I stuck around afterwords to chat (and possibly miss as much gym class as possible) while people were taking pictures and signing books. They were really sweet. We talked about fleshing out characters, writers block, how Holly Black writes at least 1000-ish words a day (AHEM AHEM, MEGAN) and Sarah's opinion on sparkling vampires.

and then this epic conversation came up with much SQUEEing involved (the conversation went something like):

elle: are there any authors/books you guys really loved that you would suggest?
Holly: We've met so many amazing authors (one of the great things about our job) and there's so many good books out there.
Is there any particular type of book you like reading?
elle: Well...I pretty much read anything.
Holly: Hmm..what's your favorite book that you've recently read
elle: ummm....QUEEN'S THIEF SERIES?
Holly: MEGAN?! Sarah-she's read Megan
Sarah: Megan Whalen Turner?
elle: *nods*
Holly: Have you read A Conspiracy yet?!
elle: I read the ARC!!!
Sarah: So did we!!
elle: But you have to read the final version, she's made changes!!
Holly and Sarah: WHAT?!
elle: She's changed several scenes, it's not a huge difference, but there's details
Holly: I thought the ARC was the final copy!
Sarah: Oh, I know what we're going to do at the Book shop we stop by tonight! Megan Whalen Turner-the greatest Thief of all time.

And then we talked about TT and The Queen, and  went into a whole conversation about which books were "Megan Whalen Turner-ish" yes, folks, it's an offical word now =]
