I had forgotten about the enrolement papers. Darn. And I thought I was so close, too. I still think that the fight occurred when Gen told his father he wanted to be the Thief, because I don't know why it wouldn't have happened then; it is possible, though, that there was some time between Gen's mother's death and Gen's announcement. Long enough to account for Gen being enrolled in the armed but short enough to account for the minister of war still grieving.
