Hi! The reason for this post is to tell about a website called Akinator. This website is sort of like twenty questions, except with people, whether they are characters in books or in reality. Have any of you been on? It's scarily accurate.
Here's the exciting part, though... it guessed Eugenides! I couldn't get it to guess Attolia, even though I tried really hard.

Hahaha, I just went and played and got it to pick Gen, too. Loved the questions "is your character an appliance" and something about "does he fight dragons". Hee, NO.

I did Gen and it asked "Does he fight monsters?" I hesitated for a sec, unsure of the definition of "monster"...


Anyway I stumped it when I tried Terence from The Squire's Tales. :-)

Holy cow! That's amazing! It guessed Eugenides, Howl, and Miles Vorkosigan all in a row on the first try! (You can tell when it knows who the character is, can't you, because it starts asking REALLY specific, pointed questions.)

It guessed Mr. Darcy instead of Lord Peter Wimsey. :p Then it guessed "original character." Then it guessed "Captain Britain." I see it does have LPW in its database, though.

But got new-Sherlock Holmes on the first try. I'm guessing it's more accurate with more popular characters, and takes the data from failed attempts and "learns" from it to be more accurate.

You've gotta have not only a lot of players and input, but a lot of plays to be able to get that kind of accuracy. I propose Sounisians add some characters' names so that it can add their info. :D

Good grief. I'm impressed. It guessed both Spider Jerusalem and Ged in 30 questions each, and Ace Rimmer and Rally Vincent in 20. But, Beloved and I stumped it with Crazy Jane from Doom Patrol.

OH I LOVE THIS. It guessed Irene after about 25 questions. I couldn't make it guess Oberon, though. It took me to a list, to input it, and (I love the internet) the list had Bartimaeus! People are awesome.

It guessed Parker from Leverage FIRST TRY! It even asked me stuff like, Is she blond? Is she a criminal? When I tried Veronica Mars, it actually asked me if my character played in Veronica Mars!

I know! If your character is at all popular, it doesn't seem to need to ask specific questions. It guessed Sango from InuYasha first try, and the only specific question it asked was, Does she use a katana?
