Random reviews
Jul. 5th, 2012 09:57 pmI used to be pretty good about linking to interesting reader reviews of the Queen's Thief books, but haven't done it in ages. So, here are some reviews I've come across over the past few months for those of you suffering from Eugenides withdrawal. The intention, here, is not for us to swarm people's book blogs with squeeing comments but, if you write book reviews, you must want people to read them, correct?
Enjoy!
Churchyear's review of The Thief - "The story didn't need what she did at the end in order to be a good story - it already was. But the end gave you a second good story, almost as a bonus. It's almost as if Turner wrote two books, and you get to read both of them at the same time, and you don't realize that you actually read two till you're at the end."
Sigal's reviews of the first three books - "...here, in Megan Whalen Turner's work, is a symphony of voices, characters, action, threads upon threads that somehow coalesce again and again into the most amazing, unexpected conclusions, shining a new light upon every written word."
NKMS - "I am inspired to re-write my top 50 favorite books list."
Infinite Daydreams - "Just take a look at my Twitter feed within the 24 hours after I finished the book."
Delphinian's review of ACoK - "Gen says at one point that it would be impossible for Sophos to offend the gods, and he is right if only because Sophos is so careful and unassuming in what he does. He doesn't seek power for himself, he seeks power for the same reason Gen has - because it is what needs to happen."
Kendra Merrit - "We’re all changed by our experiences. Sometimes permanently. It’s naïve to think we might skip along through life and come out of the woods in exactly the same shape we left the house in."
