I was going to say, 'maybe because readers can only defend one inane series at a time...?' But before anyone beats me over the head with their favorite inane book: I jest! I read all of Paolini's books and liked them well enough for what they were, even if I point and laugh at them sometimes (and to be honest, I'm insanely jealous that he wrote and published Eragon when he was 15). Whereas I'm in no position to remark on Twilight, because I haven't read it. So. :)
