The only thing in there about this is she mentions she was writing a character whose complexity was not coming as quickly to her as Eugenides's did back when she started writing him. So we assumed she's writing about someone new (and she said "he").
Sandy is all speculation on our part based on what's in the books. People are curious because he/she is mentioned in CoK.
