First off, hi I'm Anna, I live in the Midwest and may have been lurking this site for a week or two.I recently discovered the Queen's Thief books and have frankly become obsessed. Since I found them I have already read KoA three times (it's my favorite) & QoA twice. Did anyone else cry the first time they read where Gen gets his hand cut off? 'cause I bawled my eyes out. (I found the series about three weeks ago, they are now officially the best books in the world.)
Thanks for reading my short ramble (is that even a legitimate phrase? probably not)

Some reviewer on Amazon.com mentioned it when I was just browsing through the series, trying to see if they're worth reading. But when I did a reread of QoA, I did cry a bit, because I was already aware of what would happen afterwards, how Irene and Gen feel about each other, and generally how significant this moment would be in their relationship. So yeah... definitely an emotional scene. T__T

Date: 10/26/13 05:04 pm (UTC)I got The Thief from the library & I had no idea it was't a stand alone but then I looked up MWT to see if she wrote anything else & I'm pretty sure I squealed with delight. I had no idea about the series, so I went into it spoiler free-I did't even read the blurbs on the back. The first day after I got the rest of the series I was blind to the world :)

Date: 10/27/13 10:54 am (UTC)QoA is my favorite and the first one I read. Because of that, I had no real attachment to any particular character when first reading and so did not take the behanding personally. I was just waiting to see how it would all unfold. But even on re-readings I don't take it too much to heart. I like seeing a character continue to be successful even when such a huge change has occurred in his life. It's part of why I love the series; that mwt introduces these huge things and we get to see the characters work through them. KoA is my second favorite but it's very close after QoA. My SO and I argue the merits of both since QoA is my fave and KoA is his. We like to try to convince each other. It hasn't happened yet. We've both stuck to our guns over the years. :)
