I found the Lost Prince much later than I did the "canonical" Burnett novels, just at the point (middle school) where I was getting into fantasy and Arthurian romance and stories about knights and loyalty and derring-do. I think it's fairly over the top in a lot of ways (in particular: is it really plausible that someone as supposedly bright as Marco never gets what is going on?) but I do love it.
