Thanks for posting this, EG! I had never read any of Rosemary Sutcliff's books until they were recommended to me here in sounis.

My favorites? Eagle of the Ninth is probably #1 and I was so disappointed in the movie. Mark of the Horse Lord about broke my heart, regardless of MWT's shout-out to it in KoA (did you all catch that? http://sounis.livejournal.com/146265.html). I've read a few others but those are the ones that stood out.

Thank you for a such a nice comment on my first ever post here :) I've been hanging about as an unnamed visitor since the summer, actually: I only read the whole QT series this spring, but love it a LOT! And also writing fanfic for it!
As regards Sutcliff, yes, I spotted the fibula pin from Mark of the Horse Lord, though almost the same point comes up in Frontier Wolf. My favourite (after EotN, of course!) is "Simon."
And the Eagle movie is a Vile Travesty, if you ask me :( Is there an Oscar given for worst job made of a good book. May they never film Queen's Thief...

Thank you! And ooooh, what a lovely fangirling you had! I belong to the only have a few (8, to be precise) but have read loads from the library camp of RS fans.
Your user name made me wonder: is there a shining company of nice Narnians around here on LJ, too?
Ah, and as regards the last post on your LJ page: all those LotR volumes, plus The Hobbit AND The Silmarillion can be found... on my bookshelf! (Not for sale.) I'm still looking for the matching Unfinished Tales.

Yeah, I get nervous every time anyone mentions the possibility of a movie based on TT. But it's fun to think of who might be perfect to play the book's characters.

Ooh, thanks for the link! Alas, I've only read four of Rosemary Sutcliff's books, but I mean to amend that this year. So far my favorite is definitely "Eagle of the Ninth"!

The movie. *shudders* I try to pretend that doesn't exist. Have you ever seen the miniseries they made in the 70's? If you haven't you should check it out. It was a much better adaptation.
