Didn't realize it would be a trilogy when I offered to edit and post...

Willow:  I was rereading QoA today and there was some stuff I wanted to mention...

Willow:  "I don't really. I have a friend who does. He isn't well enough to travel and relies on acquaintances to send him samples and drawings."-- the magus in response to Eddis's question about his interest in botany

Willow:  ... Wasn't Sophos interested in trees and plants in the Thief?

Peggy:  He was better at it than Ambiades

aged_crone:  He got the answers right, which Ambiades never did.

Willow:  And Sophos wouldn't have been allowed to travel much...

Peggy:  But he was a Sounis Nerd

Anon8:  yeah, more of a good-at-memorizing thing than genuine interest i thought

Willow:  Hmm.

Peggy:  Well, good point though Willow

Peggy:  I hadn't thought of Sophos being the friend

Peggy:  but why not tell Eddis?

Anon8:  me neither, good point :)

Willow:  Because then Gen could go and steal Sophos and further undermine Sounis.

Anon8:  though the Magus was visibly upset in KoA when Sophos was reported missing

Willow:  And Eddis could marry Sophos, preventing the king from marrying her.

Peggy:  Maybe he will, with Costis' help ...

aged_crone:  I love in QoA when Attolia starts showing the Mede how very wrong he's been.

Willow:  Well, by that time he would have lost touch with him, at least my theory goes.

Willow:  Yes!

Willow:  "You suborned my barons." "... What?"

Anon8:  haha

Peggy:  Yeah for put-downs of chauvinist men!

Anon8:  that was great! "diplomacy in my own name"

aged_crone:  "Did you recognize the messenger I sent to Eddis?"

Willow:  Or maybe Costis will discover Sophos living in the Eddisian highlands selling underwear ;-)

Willow:  How do you think she knew that was Gen's dad?

Peggy:  *pashima underwear*

aged_crone:  He was such a slimy, unctuous (literally!) icky person.

Willow:  Oh, and the other thing was, how did Gen know to call her the shadow queen?

Peggy:  She knew b/c she saw them talking and fighting as a team when the Medes attacked

aged_crone:  She had seen him at Eddis' coronation, and that was why he looked familiar, and she figured it out when he was fighting alongside Gen?

Willow:  Ah.

aged_crone:  Maybe it was well-known that her late first husband called her that.

Willow:  Well, and I guess it was common knowledge that the Thief was the son of the MoW. The magus knew.

Peggy:  No - he forgot

Willow:  Well, but he'd known once.

aged_crone:  *laughs hysterically over the "Take mine" scene at the banquet...*

Peggy:  OK. Point

Peggy:  And Gen later says he and wife agreed only his wine would be poisoned

] Willow:  Yes! :)

Anon8:  :-P

aged_crone:  Yes, and at the banquet you know everybody thinks she's being vicious or spiteful or something, except she and Gen who think it's hilarious (I think she was laughing hysterically inside)

Peggy:  I wonder how they get along now (MoW and Attolia)

Willow:  Oh, that was the other thing-- was it one of her attendants who brought Gen his good when he was locked in Ephrata, and if so which one? I think maybe Ileia...

Willow:  Not well still, I think.

aged_crone:  It said a servant girl.

Willow:  I was thinking about that for the doomfic-- the MoW

Willow:  She was a "young woman" and a "serving girl"

aged_crone:  Well, once the MoW hears about the very public kiss and the less-public-but-still-public-enough embraces...

Peggy:  Those family get-togethers with the in laws ...

Willow:  LOL

Willow:  But later Attolia says she will send an attendant, and Gen asks for that same girl again.

Peggy:  *basilisk stare*

Peggy:  Gen is a brat

Willow:  He had to know Gen loved her anyway, though.

aged_crone:  He was just yanking her chain.

Willow:  Before that.

Anon8:  i think attendant in that sense was general, not one of her personal attendants

Willow:  Gen? Yank Irene's chain? Never...

Willow:  OK.

aged_crone:  Pushing her buttons?  Rattling her cage?

Willow:  Well, it was a nice theory. *hums "Another One Bites the Dust"*

Peggy:  Oh!  Mariah had an interesting observation ...

Peggy:  Gen is the only one who gets Attolia smashing things in her room ...

Peggy:  and the Mede is the one who provokes the same reaction in Gen.

aged_crone:  Yes.  She's absolutely controlled with everyone else even when she's furious.

Peggy:  Love/Hate

Willow:  What did she smash besides the inkpot?

aged_crone:  In fact, the more furious, the more controlled.

aged_crone:  Dishes.

aged_crone:  And her chair.

Willow:  And Attolia got Gen to smash something, too.

Peggy:  When she heard about Gen and Eddis

Willow:  Oh...

Peggy:  What did Attolia get Gen to smash?

Willow:  I don't know. I don't have KoA.

Anon8:  servants cleaning up for both monarchs must have been o_O

Willow:  But he threw something.

aged_crone:  I do.  When?

Peggy:  At Attolia?  He threatened, when she was teasing him about being jealous of Dites

Willow:  I don't *know*...

aged_crone:  Gen's attendants were scared half to death.

Willow:  No. He really threw something.

Anon8:  ??

Anon8:  he slams the door after she slaps him

Peggy:  Willow.  I think you're confused.

aged_crone:  Yeah, but that's to shut out the attendants.

Willow:  No, there was another throwing incident in the trilogy somewhere.

Willow:  Because I remember relating it to Mel and the candlesticks in Crown Duel.

Willow:  Anyway... *thinks*

Peggy:  OK. You find and report back.

Anon8:  he threw an inkpot at his dresser when the Magus asked him why he was practicing his handwriting while his country was at war

aged_crone:  He throws the coin into the shrubbery after it keeps coming up the wrong way.

Willow:  Yes, it was the inkpot. I think.

Willow:  Thanks, Anon.

Anon8:  no prob

Peggy:  No, Attolia threw the inkpot at him.  On their wedding night.

Peggy:  Right!

aged_crone:  Speaking of KoA, I was reminded by the balancing on one hand on the roof scene that Gen must have muscles like steel, as well as a sense of balance.

Peggy:  But that wasn't ...

Peggy:  I think when Gen threw the inkpot, it was frustration about his hand again.

Peggy:  Not directed at Attolia.

Peggy:  But true, a thrown inkpot.

Willow:  Well, but it is her fault.

Peggy:  *gosh they're messy*

Willow:  lol, yes

Anon8:  no, Gen was more angry at Eddis for not telling him about the war, i think

Peggy:  And yes Leslie.  Gen is TOTALLY Smexy.

Peggy:  As well as strong and well balanced

Willow:  "I'll stop shouting. I won't sit down. I might need to throw more inkpots." :D

Willow:  :-D

Peggy:  *is

Peggy:  Very good Willow!

Willow:  What I meant is it's Attolia's fault he has no hand.

Willow:  And that they're at war, sort of.

Peggy:  Yes, but he doesn't blame her

aged_crone:  Well, I was just discussing strength, not "smexiness" (which I had to look up to see what y'all were talking about)

Peggy:  ever

Peggy:  lol

Willow:  OH, Jade is going to die...

Anon8:  lol

Peggy:  Even Mariah says "smexy" now

Peggy:  soon lj won't even flag it as a typot

Willow:  "What's keeping you busy in Sounis that you think you won't be back soon to OGLE my queen?" Eugenides asked.

Peggy:  :-)

Anon8:  :-P

aged_crone:  At the beginning, when Costis is feeling so guilty for knocking down the king not just because he's king but because he's such a weakling...

aged_crone:  Little does he know.

Peggy:  "toddlers with a toasting fork"

Anon8:  that was a great line

aged_crone:  Oooh, another attachment for the arm - a toasting fork!

Peggy:  It was!

Willow:  You know, I think we need a toddler with a toasting fork in the doomfic.

Willow:  Or a Kakos with a toasting fork.

Anon8:  ack!

Peggy:  oooh ... good point!

Peggy:  to take out Costis

Anon8:  hahaha

Willow:  And Costis can laugh hysterically, and no one will know why and they'll think he's going crazy.

Willow:  I was thinking to take out Gen, but taking out Costis would serve him right.

Anon8:  poetic justice if Costis falls over

Peggy:  Willow - I hope you can work the implements in

aged_crone:  I know the Attolians consistently underestimated Gen, but wouldn't you think at least *one* of them would have thought, "You know, he must know his way around this palace...

Peggy:  You would think,

Peggy:  but they totally underestimate him

Willow:  Did they know about his earlier nighttime visits to the queen?

aged_crone:  like nobody's business, and losing a hand wouldn't change that, so he can be anywhere he wants, whenever he wants...

Willow:  Relius must have.

Willow:  But I don't think the others did.

Peggy:  They thought he was Eddis' puppet

Peggy:  Even Relius

Peggy:  It was his "simpering and preening"

aged_crone:  All that time that Gen was saying he didn't have a chance to talk privately to Attolia (when she was being difficult at the end of QoA, I thought, "Well, nitwit, go to her room and talk to her privately..."

Peggy:  LOL!

Peggy:  But he didn't know how she felt, and to show up in her room, and have her call her guards ...

Willow:  t

Peggy:  Ooooh.  Bad scene

Willow:  That would make a good fanfic.

aged_crone:  "...talk to her privately, after first carefully locking the door..."

Willow:  She wouldn't call the guards on him if she knew it was him.

Peggy:  She would yell

aged_crone:  And who else *could* it be?

Anon8:  lol

Peggy:  OK.  Maybe she would yell

aged_crone:  "...after carefully locking the room and gagging her..."

Anon8:  or left her a note?

Willow:  Leslie, we need to recruit you for the doomfic!

aged_crone:  or another pair of earrings?

Peggy:  Well, and he's good.  He would've done what needed to be done.

Willow:  *mind control* Join us... JOIN USSSSSSS...

Willow:  Muahaha.

aged_crone:  *resists the call of evillllllll*

Peggy:  *torn between saying "be strong Leslie" and "Go Willow"*

Willow:  Hey, we're not evil!

Willow:  *sulks*

Peggy:  Reprobates, maybe

Peggy:  Not evil

Willow:  Well of course :-D

aged_crone:  Wicked, then?

Peggy:  Wicked is good.

aged_crone:  Willow the Wicked Reprobate?

Peggy:  Ask Ro - she just saw the musical

Willow:  I resent that. :-(

Peggy:  (resemble that remark ...)

aged_crone:  You don't deny it, but you resent it?

Anon8:  haha

Willow:  :'-(

aged_crone:  Awwwww!  Don't cry!  I'm sorry!  Here, you may have Costis as a token of my apologies.

Anon8:  *sends more cybercookies*

Peggy:  *and chocolate*

Willow:  I'll give him to Jade. ;-) No wait, I like Costis, I shouldn't do that to him...

Willow:  Aw. Thanks.

Peggy:  Jade's busy with Cute Boy right now

Willow:  Yes, I wonder how that's going?

Peggy:  Corrupting him to Attolia

aged_crone:  True, she's being unfaithful to Costis.

Willow:  But Costis has Agape, so it's fine.

Anon8:  i don't think Costis will mind ;)

Peggy:  And Teleus.  And Stenides

aged_crone:  Sheesh, it's after midnight, no wonder I'm getting goofier by the minute.

Peggy:  Oh sure.  Nice try Leslie!

aged_crone:  Notice I said "goofiER".

aged_crone:  Well, I am, but I have to leave and go to bed because I'm sleeeeeeeeeeeepy.

aged_crone:  Nighty night, everybody.  Have fun!

Avian:  bye!

Willow:  Good night!

Avian:  i'm gonna go eat

Willow:  Have fun!

 [17:48] Avian:  bye

[17:48] Anon8:  bye

[17:48] Peggy:  Bye
