I'm trying to draw a map of Sounis, Eddis and Attolia, but I immediately ran into a big problem at the beginning.

In The Thief, p.24, "When we reached the docks,we turned and rode along beside them toward the north gate out of the city." But in p.26, "At the south gate we went once again through a cool tunnel,...." So which direction did they head off?

And later, again the problem with north and south, in p.46, "...we climbed the the hills that led up to the mountains in the north of the country." In p.66, "The country ( Eddis ) was narrow and ran along the top of the mountain ranges to the south and southeast of Sounis." So is Eddis in the north or south of Sounis?

I'm completely confused by this. I wonder if I comprehended these sentences wrong. Can somebody tell me what the matter is? Thank you!! ( It seems that I'm always asking questions. )

Ahahaha... Sounds like the thruways around my house.

To get to the airport I take, The 990 north, the 290 east, the 90 west, and the 33 east.

Obviously the roads in the three countries were built by american bureaucrats. ^__^

Well, I'd definitely say that in the case of Eddis, it's to the north and northeast of Sounis. Except...whoa...that totally screws up my mental picture, where from east-west (in kind of a curving-northward...southward? shoreline, where the "shore" of Eddis is just mountain cliffs against the ocean) it's Sounis, Eddis, Attolia. ...o_____O wait, now that I'm trying to remember, I've already flipped it to a mirror image of what was thinking and--

you know, this is why when they said, "This country east of Argentina" I answered "Chile." I have no sense of east-west at ALL.

*goes to relearn geography*

My edition has this corrected -- both gates are north.

when I first started reading the books, I flipped them around in vain to find a proper map and found it hard to believe there weren't any! I don't think it's easy to imagine the locations at all, esp the battle sites in QoA.

I still think MWT should include a map in those books! Dare we hope for an official map in the next rerelease or next volume...
