Shocking omission/mistake noticed

I am carefully not reading the list of characters at the ends of the new editions of QoA and KoA, which I've just bought. But in leafing through the pages to get to the short stories at the end I did read one entry, and was startled, shocked, horrified, appalled to see the inaccuracy, in the form of omission, that it displayed.

"Stenides: Eugenides's brother, a watchmaker."

Obviously, obviously, what it was supposed to say was: "Stenides: Eugenides's brother, a watchmaker with really impressive biceps."

Proofreaders these days just aren't doing their jobs properly.

I have to admit that Stenides is still the first thing that comes to mind whenever I see the bicep emoji.

I wonder if Sten got the same strand of genetic cleverness as Gen, only he turned it to inventing and making things vs. starting wars and stealing things. Makes me wonder what the other siblings are like and how the Minister of War sleeps at night.

You have to remember that Gen describes his sisters as "mostly honest." Whatever /that/means?

I really wish that there was more info on Gen's siblings. I feel that we only get very small tidbits about them.

I've always especially wondered why we haven't heard anything about the one brother who is a soldier. I'd expect him to be the one who plays some kind of a role in the fighting that happens in QoA, or within the Eddisian garrison in Attolia after that. But we hear (marginally) more about Stenides-the-watchmaker-with-the-impressive-biceps than about him.

I had trouble figuring out the resizing pictures in comments issue too, Checkers. Here's some solutions from LJ's FAQ: http://www.livejournal.com/support/faq/6.html The 3rd and last example gives you a resizing by percentages HTML option. NOT that I have any objection to seeing the Amazing Biceps in all their enormity. For future reference only. ;)

I would assume so? because Gen has Feelings about his dead cousins at multiple times in QoA and KoA and it would be strange to not also have a reference to the loss of a brother, if the brother was also killed in the war.

Haha I've actually read it! But I never identified Impressive Biceps as a character in the story, which was clearly an oversight on my part.

Perhaps I should also re-post (riposte?) my poem from ages ago - I can't remember if it was in here or in Chatzy, and I'm too lazy to go hunting to check.

Stenides had biceps of steel,
So manly they barely looked real.
At the sight, women sighed
And looked googly-eyed
And pursued him with vigor and zeal.

I think I deserve to be the poet laureate of somewhere for that. I'm sure it is much better than anything Dite wrote.

Oh, now, aged_crone! And here I was just going to say how much I love you! And I do, but surely Dite's ditties are just as amazing as yours -- or they wouldn't cause ear worms in poor Costis, would they?

I'm having a lot of fun imagining the MoW with three eccentric, trouble causing sons and two "mostly honest" daughters. That look of concern on the dog's face is appropriate!
