A typo in The Thief??

I loaned (one of my copies of) The Thief to a friend who wanted to read it. He sent me a text last night with a picture that he took of page 184, which is when Gen is raving and is visited by Eugenides the god, noting the line "When I dared to lower my arm, he was gone." My friend asks, "When did he raise his arm??"

I read and re-read carefully, and I can't see anything that says Gen ever raised his arm when Eugenides arrived.....Is this a typo, or is there a DEEPER MEANING??
