The thing I love the Queen's Thief Series so much for is how there's SO MUCH political strife and plot detail like... to the point where the minority of the pages seem to be about the characters themselves and YET she has the most complex, multidimentional characters known to humanity just leaping from the pages. == > So MUCH said in so few words, in one action, in a tiny gesture....

The four monarchs are so perfectly in contrast with each other in both appearance, personality, actions... all the while being completely the same and and I foresee the characters becoming... more like their opposite monarch on an additional level while still retaining the outer expression of their personalities that we know them for.

For example... Both Eugenides and Irene "wear masks." Their outward expression is a lie in total contrast to who they are inside. Eugenides in how he can verbally articulate the truth ("I am mortally wounded." he says, without sounding wounded at all. (while he actually WAS mortally wounded)... Irene... well we know Irene's mask that is made of stone thickening and thickening to the point where she almost gave her whole heart away before Eugenides saved her from herself. They both wear masks, and yet the expression of those masks are in total contrast.

Perhaps in the 5th and 6th books Irene will let her guard down so much that she expresses herself more like Eugenides (with the same playfulness) and Eugenides will express himself more regally (and yet Irene's version of playful and Eugenides version of regal will be completely different from that of their spouse)...

And perhaps Irene will earn for herself the very things that she admires in Eddis (and was jealous of Eddis for being able to be)... Wish I had more time to add to this~....
