you know what's coming up for me though? I'm comparing Kamet's vulnerability and Irene's vulnerability and... what draws me endlessly to Irene is that she is so childlike and vulnerable just below the surface while being the opposite of those things on the surface... Well... Kamet is quite possibly even more physically vulnerable than Irene... and I am asking myself.. do I sympathize with Irene more because I am societally more comfortable and accustomed to such vulnerability in a woman than a man? (although, I love the fact that Kamet is SO Costis's WIFE... )... Or is it because we've never had a 1st person narrative point of view from Irene and so we don't GET all of the intimate thoughts in her head like we do Kamet's and so it's kind of like we didn't get the nasty triggering stuff that might have gone through Irene's mind that we get from Kamet that feel annoying to us and so we sympathize with him less as a result?
