Wow. This is just so interesting to take in. That it was very intentionally "heavily and artificially distorted." Hahaha so we were all pining for a map to give ourselves greater ability to visualize the concrete physical distances between all these places and we have, lo and behold, finally, not one map but TWO MAPS per our wishes, (this map, and Kamet's "quickly drafted" version....) two intentionally vastly different maps and then this statement!!!! It's so interesting to take in and I think it's symbolic of the idea that it's not really important what a physical layout is, but rather how the physical layout is projected by each individual person and the importance that each individual places upon different locations that are special to them.

It's interesting how Setra is so prominent on Kamet's map, even though he claims he feels no attachment to Setra. (and it's not even mentioned on the other "official" map.)

I too thought it strange that the "Little Peninsula" appears ten times larger than the "Greater Peninsula" on this map. The Mede Empire just seems to sprawl in the same way Antarctica always appears to sprawl on a Mercator style mape even though in real life that's not the case.

I was shocked to see that Eddis looks positively huge on this map and as if there actually does exist a lot of flatter land in it (a plateau of sorts) which made me question the whole thing about getting the people out of Eddis and down to Sounis and Attolia before the Sacred Mountain erupts. The volcano doesn't look like it could take out a country as big as Eddis appears on the map. I was like, why can't they just relocate the capital to another part of Eddis instead of relocating the Eddisian people to countries and cultures outside their own?

I think a lot of us were also surprised by how Sounis looks like it has almost no land on the map even though Sounis seems relatively powerful in the books, certainly at least as large as Eddis.

Among other questions....!
