I just visited MWT's tumblr and saw the news. I've been pretty much counting down the days until the release of TRoTF and now it's not happening until next year. I am disappointed, to say the least, but I'd rather wait and have the book be just right than only okay because it was rushed.

I’m weirdly okay with this. I’ve been wailing “I’m not ready!” Since the news was announced... I don’t like endings. Also, I’d hate to think that it was in any way rushed. I’m grateful that she seems to have a relationship with his publishers that allows for creative flexibility. ALSO I just finished (much too quickly) my entire-series re-read and it was so much fun. NOW I GET TO DO IT AGAIN NEXT YEAR.

Well, at least we had the outside date of 2184 to set as the limit of our expectations. I feel like I can accept at least that won't happen unless something catastrophic happens in between. I'm hoping it's not 2027, but it did feel rushed and like I wasn't quite ready yet for it to be over. With a series like this I'd want it to feel complete and done and as worth waiting for as Megan's other books.

I guess this means we just have enough time to really delve more into TaT and make sure it has a chance to be enjoyed as much as all the others. I feel like there's still more I've missed in that one that will be important for the last book.

Bummed, but the part of me that was still stuck in 'wait, what?' about a 2019 release date feels more calm now.

It's funny but I had just been feeling a little down, knowing my favorite series would be over soon. And, wondering if that would be the end of [livejournal.com profile] sounis. Don't get me wrong, I do want that last book but i'm strangely ok with waiting for it.

So, so, so, I'm not the only one who breathed a sigh of relief at this news? Because 1) I'd much rather MWT took her time finishing this series, to her total satisfaction, and 2) this gives me an extra year and a half to prepare myself for the End that I was dreading!

The Waiting Game, I can manage. The Feelings Game, not so much! 0:)

MWT, if you're reading this: I'm with you, till the end of the line. <3

(Wait. Was that a Captain America quote? Oh, dear.)

Add me to the list of people who are kind of relieved about the delay. It hasn’t even been a year since that happy day I discovered this epic series. There are still audiobooks to listen to and books to be reread. There are sentences to be parsed, theories to be discussed, and converts to be won. I’ve missed out on all the years of interaction with other fans and I’m glad to bask in it a while longer.

Welcome to the fandom! And you're right....these books were MADE to be over analyzed. Re-read away!

Does anyone have a link to the announcement? I've not seen it yet.

Thanks!

Try this, I think it will take you to it. She actually posted three separate times about it.

I'm with you, freenarnian! Even once I have the book in my hands I'll probably hold onto it for a week or two and enjoy just owning it before I read it. Granted, I take an inordinate amount of pleasure in anticipating things, so I'm a bit odd.

This is how I posted the news to my fellow fans on Facebook:

Somehow I'm not exactly surprised that the Thief's return will be coming later than expected:
"For you know quite well that the day of the Lord's return will come unexpectedly, like a thief in the night." 1 Thessalonians 5:2 (NLT)

With a link to MWT's post on Tumblr, of course. (It's important to quote your source.)
