Starting a new post since the other has slithered so far down the page. Let's see if I can get a cut to work.

Three weeks? Three weeks. And that is all
Until the tale returns, bringing its end.
The Thief has aged and changed, and so have we;
Retirements and travels, motorcycles;
Teens grown and wed who now have children of their own.

The literary tone of all our talks was always high
In Sounis or the Chatzy room where we Conspired
With possibly a trivial exception to the rule, or two:
Em’s cookies, “Dregs of Frosties,” Legotollia, Boatpool, Peeps;
Stenides’ biceps, goats wool undies, dancing bears;
Abuse of fork-beard, oily Nahuseresh;
"Isn't that Costis one smexy piece of Attolian man-flesh?"

All wonderings that we’ve had in all these years
Some answered heretofore, some will be, but it’s safe to bet
“Not telling” will remain the only answer to the rest;
To give wild guesswork ample room to play.

Well, it looks as if I *can't* get an lj-cut to work, going by my preview. Sorry about that.

Goodness, now I'm emotional, in an end-of-an-era way!

I was just thinking today, as I impulse-purchased a wine goblet with bees on it, clearly made for poisoning unfavorable marriage prospects, that I will have to toast the end of Queen's Thief. And then I remembered how I wasn't even of a legal age to imbibe when I first discovered these books and this forum. How is it 2020? (And when did I get old enough to experience fellow-feeling for the magus??)

Thank you for the poem! I like it much better than the epitaph of Shakespeare's that was stuck in my head earlier:

"...let us sit upon the ground
And tell sad stories of the death of kings;
How some have been deposed; some slain in war,
Some haunted by the ghosts they have deposed;
Some poison'd by their wives: some sleeping kill'd;
All murder'd..."

...Except Gen, of course. Long live the Annux! And long live the QT fandom!

Lovely, aged_crone! It brought back many fond, fun memories and made me a bit sad about the end of the series and, possibly, the end to a lot of the realtime chatter here.

Here’s my poem:

Where and when and how and whom?
Will one book contain the room,
For all the questions, expectations,
Queens and grandsons, gods and nations?

Expectations go fly free,
It will bee what it will bee.
Hang the theories on a hook,
I plan to enjoy this book.
