National Poetry Month — Sijo
Apr. 25th, 2021 11:22 amIs anyone else here familiar with Sijo? Everything I know (almost nothing) comes from some brief notes at the beginning and end of _Tap Dancing on the Roof_ by Linda Sue Park.
It seems to me to be a form almost created for MWT fans (except they date back to the 6th century).
"Sijo is a traditional Korean form of poetry.... Each line in a sijo has a special purpose. The first line introduces the topic. The second line develops the topic further. And the third line always contains some kind of twist — humor or irony, an unexpected image, a pun, or a play on words."
