Three Advisors

I've been musing on this one for a while. 

Three countries -- Eddis, Sounis, Attolia.  Three rulers.  Three advisors with unusual roles, all of them scholars to some extent.  Eddis has her Thief, Attolia has her secretary of the archives, Sounis has his magus.   It's always been clear that these three countries need to unite, and that the rulers are antagonistic to one another.  But wait.  In The Thief, Eugenides and the magus become friends.  In KoA, Eugenides and Relius make a connection, and Relius begins to consider opening a correspondence with the magus.  Okay, admittedly Eugenides is King at this point and not an advisor, but isn't it nice to see the hint of a three-way, behind-the-scenes alliance?  A back-door approach to peace, perhaps?

Very good point! Because after all, I don't think Gen would ever really want any harm to come to the magus however sullen he is in QoA and and we can assume it's probably reciprocated. Gen's got the link with Eddis anyway. But it depends on how well Relius and the magus get on, and definitely on how much influence the magus has on the king of Sounis, especially since he's been in Eddis for so long. But you're right, the suggestion is certainly there.

Of course, when Sophos comes back and rules Sounis, it won't matter anyway because everyone will be friends and live happily ever after.

Hey, the Magus might have a bit of influence on Eddis which Sounis will like. And Relius will respect.

Yay Sophos! We've decided that Nahuseresh and Sounis should kill each other to avoid the everyone else having to do it.

The only problem with "happily ever after" is "Annux," but anyway.

I think there's a possibility that the Magus might (like to) marry the Queen of Eddis, in which case, poor Sophos, assuming he isn't deceased.

that is brilliant! you have a very nice way of saying things that would take me many rambling paragraphs in about 5 sentences. i can picture that happening in a very quiet, Gen/Relius/Magus-ish way :P
