I recently found out that Jane Yolen is giving some programs in central Missouri (within driving distance of me) and am trying to arrange my life to go to as many as possible. Is anyone lurking out there going? We could show up to see Jane Yolen carrying our copies of the Thief...if that wouldn't be too uncouth. http://www.kindcrone.com/explorations.html

._. I don't get it. Is there a joke I'm missing out on here?

I suspect there is. I, too, do not understand the Jane Yolan connection.

Oh! Scratch that. I think she may simply be talking about carrying around copies of the Thief so that we could, theoretically, find each other. I thought there was some sort of connection between Megan and Jane.

Silly me. XD

I love Jane Yolen. Unfortunately, I'm very far away. I believe [livejournal.com profile] puppeteergirl may be somewhat close to you.

I just visited her website. (http://www.janeyolen.com/) Very nicely done site, and wow, she has written a lot of books. So many are out of print, though.

The Yolen events sound quite wonderful, & lots of the illustrators mentioned as being in the exhibit have done excellent work. It sounds like a very good time, & you should definitely go. That most of the events are free makes it even better--think of the money you can save [to buy that next MWT book ;)]!

Jane Yolen writes delicate, ethereal prose, yet in person is a large, Jewish grandmother from Brooklyn, with an unexpectedly earthy side. I've heard her on panels at the World Fantasy Con several times. She can only give you added insights into and enjoyment of MWT's books. Hearing authors able to articulate some of their creative process is some of the Best Fun Ever, very nicely meta. I wish I were close enough to come with you.
