So has anyone here heard of the comic 'Unshelved'? Probably not. It's a comic strip about a library, that happens to be drawn by one of my dad's friends. Every Sunday they do a book review in comic format. It's a cool idea, and I love looking at reviews of my fave books. Case in point, this one from their collection 'Book Club'. I had totally forgotten I had ever seen it until I read The Thief. Naturally, having not read the rest of the books, they didn't fully get the epicness-that-is-Eugenides, but I guess he spends most of the first book trying to mask it, and they wouldn't want to give the ending away... Man, the little 'sore' cartoon looks really depressed... I just meant I slammed my shoulder into a branch, so that hurts a bit... Now I'm all sad because there's this little crying blue guy on my screen!

Woah, it's like everyone knows about them! I've never met anyone who's read them before, so it's like... Dude. I always tell people my dad knows the artist, and they're all like, 'what's unshelved?'.

Its like that around here. We're (mostly) all nerdy in the same way. Like, If I go up to a random person on the street and say "Megan Whalen Turner" or "Robin McKinley" or "Naomi Novik", I'd just get a "...huh?" Here, we all speak the same language.

Mostly. I STILL don't understand all of the inside jokes that were around way before I joined (I still feel like a newbie, but I've been here... how long? Over a year I guess) but thats just how it is around here... :0)

OMG! Love that comment. We are all just such thieves! I'm sure if the government is watching the internet we're all hosed (as I said in a recent chat, 'hosed' is what you say when you mean 'screwed' but there are people nearby. Just clarifying).
