Hi, um... I read The Thief about six months ago and had to wait about four weeks before The Queen of Attolia was in the Library. I love all three books, especially the King. I finally managed to get my sister to read them and now she's (nearly) as infatuated as me. whenever I think of them, I get a huge grin on my face. They are some of the best books I have ever read. So um yeah, that's how I came to find this site.

yay! Welcome!

New Zealand, eh? Is it hard to find copies of the books there?

Welcome! Do you have different covers in New Zealand? I'm interested in the difference between the British and American covers.

It sounds like the same we have here in the US. The ones first listed on Megan's website. (http://home.att.net/~mwturner/)

Oh, don't worry about that! I'm sure I can find them on google, anyway. :D The paperbacks sound the same - is the Gift HUGE and not at all possible to put in hair?

I like the British ones. :D

I know this is like way late and no-one will read it. But I'm from NZ too, and at my (small-town) library we have the books with British covers. (The Thief has Gen holding up the lamp in the cave, and Attola in the torture chamber in her green dress for QoA) The library doesn't have KoA, so I ordered it from my local bookshop, and the edition that came had the new American cover (Gen holding a sword, and Atoolia's hand on his shoulder) I had a look online and from what I can see, you can buy both kinds here, but the British covers are harder to get, which is a pity because I like them better too :) Gen on the cover of The Thief looks exactly as I imagine him.

Ha ha, see how wrong you are! If you "track" an entry you get an email when there's a new comment. :P

Anyway, I love the British QoA cover so much I bought it and had it shipped to the US and that's the one I had MWT sign. *huggles signed QoA*

There's only one cover for KoA, apparently.

Lol, well look at that, wherever I post checkers will know :)
I'm absolutely kicking myself that I didn't find this community earlier. I've been working my way backwards through the archives and there's so many discussions I would have loved to be in on.
*goes starry-eyed at the thought of a signed copy of QoA* I own the British version of The Thief and the paperback of KoA, and I'm trying very hard to get myself the British version of QoA. Probably I like it so much because it was the only one I knew about for years and years, but at the moment I can't find anyone in NZ selling it. Argh, I might have to get it sent from the UK as well.

Ok, before I stop inundating you all with old thread emails, can I ask one more question? What different editions of the books are there? I've been trying to work it out.

The Thief:
British cover with Gen in the cave
Old American one with an ugly Hephestia?
New cover with huge gift in hands

QoA:
Gen the rapist in a boat
Attolia holding the hook (I confess, I thought it was some kind of water jug)
Attolia in the torture chamber (British edition)
The Megaron with a giant hand

KoA:
Gen holding a sword (this cover has got to be the last word in awesomeness)

Sorry about the super-long comment! It got kinda out of control, so thanks for tolerating my dredging up old stuff... I promise I'll stick to (fairly) current threads from now on!

There's another American cover on an older paperback of thief:
https://mywebspace.wisc.edu/pdcreswell/theif.jpg

Other than that one, I think you got them all. Oh wait, have you seen the foreign language versions? the Japanese ones are beautiful. I think Megan has them all on her website.

I'd urge you to dredge up the old threads, but what's an even better idea is to post some of the older questions in new posts. There are so many new people and most of them probably don't have the fortitude to troll through the archives. But they probably have lots of great ideas and opinions. So I say, post away!

Welcome! KoA is full of awesomeness.

By the way, you stole my nickname. I'm not sure how I feel about that. ;-)

Welcome! Great to have someone new! I've only been on the site for a while, but its so cool. I second the question about covers... We should collect all the covers from everywhere and make a book called 'Queen's Thief Covers From Around the World'. We'd make millions! Or not.
