A few of you guys have been raising concerns about security in our chatroom, so I'd like to hear everyone's opinions.

Our little fandom is growing, and we're starting to get more attention from other blogs, which is wonderful - but it does mean that more casual lurkers are wandering into the room. The Conspiracy Room is currently open to both members and non-members, the password is available on the profile page, and on every chat notice.

Regular users of the room will know that personal details occasionally slip out. Everyone does a great job of keeping their details secure, but it's possible that someone could piece together more general bits of information, and maybe come up with a name. The last thing we want is for anyone to feel insecure in using the room, but with more lurkers coming in, its a possibility.

What we want to know is - what do you guys think? Is the room secure enough, or should we be doing more? If so - there are several options. We could periodically remove the backlog, or keep it quite short (though I think this would have to wait until we'd exceeded what's currently paid for). Maybe the room should only be open to members, with the password kept in a locked post, like the readaloud? Or should we simply ask everyone to remain aware that chatzy is not private. I know a lot of people prefer to lurk for a while before joining the community and posting. Any thoughts?

I'm keeping this post open to non-members so that any lurkers who haven't joined the community can comment with what they think.
