Making a costume

meerclar-heidi.livejournal.comI am having a fancy dress party in two weeks, and people have to come as their favourite character.
I'm going as Eugenedies (for obvious reasons) so I have two weeks to make a costume.
I decided on Gen from KoA, since it's gives me the most to work with, I think, costume wise.
Does anyone have any suggestions for things I could do to make the costume-making easier on myself? Tips or Tricks or anything?
I only work 2 days a week, but I do have a one year old, so my sewing time is slightly limited unless I want to fight the baby for the fabric the whole time.
