Book recommendation

As a result of the recommendations in the thread from pirate_curse's post I went to the catolog of my library to look at the availability of the books by Brandon Sanderson. I saw that he had a novella The Emperor's Soul and I had it shipped out to my local branch. (I thought that sampling his writings through a novella would be a quick way to get a feel for how I might like his longer works.) I did like it. I liked it a lot. The sub text is closer to the surface than MWT"s works, but it has court intrigue, a protagonist that is a thief, and I definitely think many in this community would might enjoy reading it "while she knits".
