Names are important...
Nov. 5th, 2020 09:54 pmMany of Turner's names are Greek, or evocative of Greek ones. So I thought I would see if the name Pheris was real, or had a cognate.
So, yes. Pharis, or Phares, is a name from Greek mythology. The original married a woman famous for conjugal disharmony and violence (one of the Danaids) and was the progenitor of a couple of Achaean heroes of the Trojan War. There's a city in the Pelopennese named after him.
The interesting part, though, is his own progenitor.
The real Pharis is the son of Hermes. The god of thieves.
Kind of sheds light on the Pigeon's relationship with our Gen, huh? And with their gods.
