I came across this review today -

This is book 1 of The Queen's Thief series. This recommendation came from the girl working in the Y.A. section of the BYU bookstore, who impressed me with her expansive knowledge of the books in the Y.A. category, and convinced me that she is an avid reader. She claimed these were her favorite books of all time (but quite frankly she didn't look more than about 16 to me). She said that each book (3 in the series) has a complete story, but of course all tie together. She said that each book has some very cool and unexpected twists... oooooh.

*thinks this girl who looks to be 16 is a member of sounis, and one of those with strong feelings re: OIL vs ACRYLIC*

just sayin'

: D

HEY. I AM TOTALLY TWENTY YEARS OLD. On campus jobs are only for college studends, pretty sure sixteen year olds can't work there!

OH MY GOSH I TOTALLY REMEMBER WHEN THIS GUY CAME INTO THE BOOKSTORE. I actually suggested Goose Girl as well. Dunno if I suggested Redwall, I don't think I would have just based on what he wanted the recommendations for.

Why, thank you.

Out of curiosity, how did you find this review? (Or suggestion/nomination/whatever we want to call it)

I'm really tempted to go over there and comment and say, "Hello, this is me, I'm not sixteen but I understand how you made that mistake, and I really think you should read these books and so do all these other people (insert link to Sounis here).

But I won't. Because that would be really weird.

:D

In case you were interested, it is a quote from Green Wing, a British TV show.

Where, incidentally, the pig rescuing quote comes from.

Huzzah for spreading the word! And since it's posted on their blog, even more people are learning about the books.

As for looking 16, yeah... I'm a grad student and the first day I stepped on campus everyone thought I was a freshman. It gets old pretty quick. :P

Hey, I went to BYU! The bookstore is fantastic. My brother-in-law works there now in some capacity although he's not a college student. Maybe you know him, Stephen L***yer? We should gang up on him and make him read these books. *nods*

I'm totally game for ganging up on people for their own good. However, if your brother-in-law doesn't work in the General Book department I probably don't know him.

I will confess I am reading the comments and this one

Whoa whoa whoa whoa. I just read the reviews and looked past the covers and I am changing my vote to the Goose Girl. I didn't realize that Steph liked it. So cancel my thief vote and change it to Goose Girl.

made me cry.

I mean I'm sure Goose Girl is excellent (and I do like Shannon Hale), but SERIOUSLY, PEOPLE.

also I am amused at the people voting for TT based solely on the cover.

most importantly, WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ROSIE!
