Ms. Turner has found a Real, Live, and Still In Existence bookstore in Berkeley.

The Other Change of Hobbit Bookstore

To celebrate, she will be there and accessible to anyone who wants to talk to her, sign books, discuss ideas for her new and improved website, and feed her 'satiable latte habit at 1:30 both tomorrow and Thursday.

That would be July 22 and 23 at about 1:30 PM Pacific Time. The address is 2020 Shattuck Ave, Berkeley, CA 94704-1117 USA, and the phone number, should you be hopelessly lost, is 1-510-848-0413

per Megan, "If they need directions to The Other Change of Hobbit, tell them NOT to listen to Octopirock!  It's on Shattuck near the intersection with University Avenue."

and. um. fair warning. Megan runs late more often than she runs early or on time.
just sayin'.

leave a message at the Information or Customer Service desk if you can't find her.

~~~
edit to add - there is a new post with additional information on how even those of you outside of California can get your own signed copy of a book.  or two.  or twelve
if you're quick
and have a valid credit card in your possession.
: )
2nd edit to correct the phone number, which is hopefully correct this time.
so is mwt going to just run up and down California? ...
Has lots of ideas for the website, but think I shouldn't say anything.
HOORAY FOR THE NEW WEBSITE. Greatly improved from the old one. *was the first to comment on it*
You're a bit TOO far West, Megan. *sigh* Better luck next time...
I googled Our Lady and the top hit was this one (http://home.att.net/~mwturner/). It looks pretty good to me.
Now, I don't remember the old one, so this might be the same or the same URL. But if you're still "seeing the same thing", try telling your browser to reload the page, or clearing the browser's cache.
I believe rosie is talking about this one: http://www.meganwhalenturner.com/
You can see her wonderful 'first comment' under the tab comments
Sounds exciting no doubt as now you can type mwt name and you get a page! but at the bottom of the page is says is not affiliated with mwt. So assuming is not..
Hm.
I've found a coffee shop in San Diego for when MWT gets down thisaway. So I won't glare too venomously at the Northerners.
TELL HER HI FROM ME. Tell her there's a poor loser on the other side of the country who wants to see her, but can't. :(
Aw jeez. The Other Change of Hobbit was a favorite when I was in grad school in the seventies, and I'm glad it's still there, very glad, and there couldn't be a better place in Berserkeley for MWT to pop up. But it's still Too Damn Far from Philadelphia.
Oh fæcal matter. Too damn many good bookstores, like other local institutions, are being driven out by the McBarnes & Wendy'ses.
Ironically, the Barnes and Noble in Berkeley closed down even before Cody's on Shattuck went out of business.
I took a detour from my subway stop to take a peek at the bookstore today, since I wasn't actually able to be there on the two days that MWT was present. It was looking a bit... mature. (In a nice, loved, Velveteen Rabbit way.) The atmosphere was nice, too! Sadly, I was not able to support this place with a purchase as subway fares have hiked again...
AACK!
I am an East-Coaster who is landing at the Oakland airport on THURSDAY EVENING. Good gods, what awful timing!
I hope everyone who makes it has a fantastic meet-up. :)
What? No! I've got a dentist appointment today and a swim meet tomorrow! Argh. It's extremely depressing, condidering that UC Berkeley, where I was just an hour earlier, is about A BLOCK AWAY!
*tries to be satisfied with being within a 6.1 mile radius of MTW. still feeling bummed.*
Those of you who are blessed by the lucky duck fairy, have fun!
I'm beginning to think my directions were not as clear as they could have been. Either that or MWT is still teasing me about my unfortunate encounter with Yerba Buena Island.
Either way, I apologize to whomever I wronged.
: )
At 580 I had a choice of Hayward (which I really didn't think was right) and . . . . the ISLAND. Okay, possibly I should have just had faith and gone north, but stories of your previous adventures maybe didn't fill me with confidence?
All I could think was that if I landed on Yrba Buena, you-know-who over there on facebook was going die of the laughing.
See! I'm not the only one who has had problems with CalTrans awful signs!
And my sister is not very accomplished at the 'respecting her elders' concept when it comes to laughing at people.
