Hey there all Sounisians. I know there are audio books for QT out there and I'm in need. My husband has a long commute and audio books keep him sane. He's running low and I thought this would be the perfect time to get him addicted to QT.

However, I can't find these things. Please take this harness and lead me directly to them as I tend to get lost along the way.

Also, are they good? Audio books read by the wrong person can really ruin the experience.

And also again, can you recommend any other audio books? He has really enjoyed the Dresden Files, The Lost City of Z, David McCullogh's Truman biography and World War Z. So, his tastes are a bit eclectic. He did NOT enjoy Harry Potter in audio book form.

Thanks for guidance.

My husband and I love the KofA on audio book. We enjoy the Narrator: not overly dramatic, but not a dry reading. TT is great as well, but we haven't gotten our hands on QofA. Looking for it at recorded books.com I only found it on cassette, but recently searched at amazon and got some cd hits. I'll see if I can lead you there. Haven't found a direct download, so we just rip it from cd to iPOd. Happy hunting.

Have you heard of librivox.org? People volunteer to read books that are in the public domain, and you can download them for free. Some readers are better than others, of course, but most do a good job.

My favorite Librivox reader is Karen Savage, she does a great job and has several good solos. But of course there are many other great readers there :-)

Speaking of, the first book I helped record on Librivox (Once On A Time by A.A. Milne) will be out in the catalog soon! I'm pretty excited about it.

I've downloaded a few read by her, and enjoyed them as well! (Note to people who haven't used Librivox: you can also search for books by author, if you find one you enjoy.)

And I'll have to check out the book you helped record! I keep meaning to volunteer, but I haven't yet gotten around to it. (Probably a good thing I haven't yet committed, since I STILL have yet to record my other chapter for the QT read-aloud, and it's been a LONG time since I signed up for that!)

Don't you mean you can search for books by Reader? :-)

You can rent cd audiobooks for all three books here:

http://www.recordedbooks.com/index.cfm

I like the audiobooks, but I know some *other people* don't. It's Jeff Woodman who narrates all three.

I was lucky--my public library has the audiobooks on cd. Maybe you could get them through interlibrary loan?

Looks like Amazon has some used ones at a pretty good price:

Sometimes ebay has them, too.

I see you live in S. Cal, like me. Might be a bit far, but the Redondo Beach Library has KoA.

Also, if you send me a private message, maybe I can help you.

The audiobooks are read by Jeff Woodman, and they're very good (except for his Eddisian accent - I couldn't listen to the Aulus and Boagus scene, it was too painful). The only problem is that there isn't a recording of TT.

There's also the readaloud. It's free, although it does change readers every chapter, and is as of right now incomplete. There's a link to it on Sounis' sidebar.

Good luck!!

except for his Eddisian accent

I agree! For me the painful part wasn't the Eddisian cousins, it was when Gen speaks with the accent. >.

I must chime in. I used to have a long commute, and I listened to heaps of audio books. Ones I especially enjoyed were the Odd Thomas books, Artemis Fowl, Airborn by Kenneth Oppel, the Larklight trilogy, and the Book Thief. The Sookie Stackhouse books are good audios, too, if he likes that sort of thing.
