Hey hey!

I've lurked this community for quite a long time - pretty much ever since I got King of Attolia a couple Christmases ago. But! I've never actually participated, or read posts in-depth, for precisely the same reason: I still had not read KoA. I kept intending to read it, and a couple times reread Queen of Attolia in preparation to do just that, but never quite got around to it.

No longer!

I am doing a proper reread of the series, book-to-book back-to-back. Very serious business!

That all said: I just (re-re-)finished The Thief today, and looking at it from a great deal older than I was when first reading, I am still very impressed. Parts that I remembered fondly from ten years ago are just as good now. And knowing precisely what to look for, I was able to appreciate all the little double-agent things Gen does and says and enacts. Book still made me laugh, too, and that's something.

So that's my little intro; not much else to say except that I look forward to actually being able to participate in posts instead of scrolling by them so as not to be spoiled for anything.

:D

TL;DR: Hi guys! I will be a nonlurking member of this comm one of these days!

I definitely approve of non-lurking! Welcome! :D

You were able to appreciate ALL the little double-agent things Gen does? I'm not sure I can do that. He (and Megan) continue to surprise me with their general awesomeness.

I re-read the Theif immediately after I finished it the first time, and I felt like slapping myself every other page. Megan leaves hints from the very first page and I think I missed them all on my first time through - which is very sad, since one of my favorite games to play with movies/books is to guess the ending from half way through or less. Didn't work very well on Theif and I knew better than to try on QoA and KoA.

I missed lots of them too, and I read QoA first so there was no excuse.

Welcome! ALSO: READ, READ! READ FOR YOUR LIFE! I've been intending to reread them too but never seem to get round to it.

Yes, welcome! We'll look forward to seeing you around.

And may I just say that I am amazed that you held out so long before reading KoA! I only waited as long as I did because when I finished QoA for the first time, KoA wasn't published yet...

Just wanted to say welcome. I wish I could think of something more original, but I think my brain is kind of fried because of finals in two days.

Another (belated) welcome! READ THEM. GO GO GO. We were re-reading The Thief aloud last night and still finding new little bits.
