Hephestia's Theme Song

queensthiefAfter getting attracted to the gothic elements of Evanescence, I've picked up with a similar band called Within Temptation. One of their songs, Mother Earth, grabbed my notice, but it wasn't until recently I've realized how well it describes Hephestia and the role the gods play in the books, especially The Queen of Attolia.

Ps. In other tQoA soundtrack news, If I made a movie of it, I would have Gen's voice softly chanting "Oxe harbrea etc" in the beginning as the camera sweeps over the whole penninsula, stopping to focus on the main characters (Sophos reading, Magus writing, Eddis at table w/ ministers, Relius doing something cool like reviewing spy reports, Nahuseresh ordering Kamet around) and then a shot of Attolia looking out the window, WAITING, with the shadow of Moira behind her, and THEN it shlides into a view of Gen climbing in the chimney in the dark, all the time the chanting THAT THE MOVIE VIEWERS DON'T UNDERSTAND UNTIL LATER (unless, of course, they're already fans, which they definitely would be...)And it would be awesome and chilling. :) And some simple piano melody that eventually takes over.
OK, sorry. That was a tangent, a tangent into a happy imaginary world where I can create films with a thought and don't have to do homework. Erm. Yeah. Anyway, cool song, Lady Jane.

Date: 1/11/10 04:46 am (UTC)Since I'm obviously not the only one who relates music to books I read, perhaps all the Sounisians could band together and make soundtracks for each book, or one soundtrack for the entire series as a whole. Either way, it seems like a fun thing to do, unless it's already been done?

Months Later...
We see beams of light shinning in on a dirty figure lying down with his back towards us. He turns to reveal his face and block the light with his hands. The chains rattle softly
The Magus says, "Is this him?", and we hear the guard mutter a positive. The Magus sighs angerly, and says, "Bring him out then." Keys rattle and the bolt sldes out loudly. That's just how it should start.

Date: 1/12/10 01:25 am (UTC)But... in the myths Gen and the Magus tell in The Thief, Hephestia is not actually the creator deity. The Earth is the first god, and she begins alone, then creates the sun, moon and sky to be her companions. Hephestia is one of the Earth and Sky's children, along with the other mountain ranges and the great rivers, and although she does acquire some of her parents' powers, she never creates anything. So the song might fit better in the QT panthenon with... well, Earth :P
Ooh, and I have a new song suggestion as well. I have little fan-girl squee moments when it comes over the radio at work. The first two verses remind me of Gen and Irene especially.

Date: 1/12/10 03:55 am (UTC)What about KoA? It's already pretty montage-y with the whole Attolia in bedchamber, people partying, Costis and Teleus on duty, Relius at work, Ornon grumpy thing... (Ooh! I just realized... almost all the main characters are in the first chapter/prologue whatever EXCEPT GEN HIMSELF!)
I have, nerdily, planned out a trailer for KoA in my sketchbook. Complete with narration. Yup.
