...but I was just looking for pictures on Google to put in my presentation (see below) and I found this:

It's a picture called "Attolian Queen" (although the page title is Queen of Attolia, which I think is why Google is pulling it up) drawn by Keith Thompson, who, if you don't recognize the name, did the cover and inside map/illustration for Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld and Darkwing by Kenneth Oppel and I'm sure several others that I haven't read. He's an amazing artist, as I'm sure you can tell, and does it or does it not look like he's read and loved the books at least enough to draw fan art of them? Maybe he could do the map MWT says she doesn't want to include until it's just right!

That's really interesting! I'm not familiar with the artist or the works you mentioned, but he's definitely got a definitive style, especially in the hands. Also that headband's looking pretty swank, Irene ;)

Yeah, I've seen that before. It's actually been posted here a couple of times.

It's hard to say if it is based on the series, because Attolia appears to based on the Greek region of Aetolia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aetolia). I think Attolia is another way it can be spelled. So... It could be based on the series or be a historical piece. We may never know.

Interesting thoughts Lady Jane...I wondered that too when I couldn't recognize Attolia as Attolia.

I hope he does decide to do some illustrations for QT though~!
