[identity profile] spellcoats.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] queensthief
So [livejournal.com profile] hapaxnym sent me an ARC of A Conspiracy of Kings and she asked I post my thoughts on the book when I finished. Well, I finished it on Monday and to be honest I'm having trouble forming any thought more coherent than HOLY SHIT HOW BADASS IS THAT. Sophos really gets fleshed out. Unfortunately, though, since I hadn't had a chance to reread the books before I started on the ARC, I think a lot was lost on me, since I didn't have The Thief fresh in my mind. My only complaint is that Irene wasn't on every single page, and I do love Irene so. It's understandable, but still sad. :(

And I will say this: the climax of the book may just blow the others out of the water with its sheer awesome.

And with [livejournal.com profile] hapaxnym's permission, I'll be sending the ARC off to [livejournal.com profile] loquaciousquark to read.

Also I just discovered this interview, and feel the need to brag about something:
HWM: Did you know The Thief would become a series or did the series evolve after the book was published?
Megan Whalen Turner: I didn't know I would write a sequel for The Thief until Barbara Barstow a Cuyahoga County Librarian asked me for one.

I worked at the Cuyahoga County Public Library system for two years in high school. How cool is that? Seriously cool. I love my county library.
