This is so awesome -- thank you! I never pick songs that I feel go with books for some reason, but I love it when other people do.

You'll have to tell me what you think of The Lost Conspiracy. I think it gets slow a few times due to really detailed world-building, but otherwise it's genius.

you know what? I think I've sort of lost patience for people's world-building because of the way it flows so easily in the QT series. Or character building. I find myself thinking 'um, no I do not need to know every single detail about you, can't you tell me as we go on?'

My brother loves that song. We decided it was the theme song for A Midsummer's Night Dream (his school play) - Lysander (his character) would sing it to Hermia.

Lost!, by Coldplay is great. My favorite lyric is, "just because I'm losing / doesn't mean I've lost", which is just so Gen it's not even funny.

I've been having that problem too. I reread a series recently that I hadn't read since before KoA and which I'd thought was so vivid and smooth the first time around... and I was thinking to myself the whole time, "This is just one giant infodump." I think MWT has ruined us.

Awwww. I thought the story had a lot of depth to character development, too (I loved Hathin), but it's true that I was so impressed by some of the world-building that I gave it some extra leeway on pacing. I found the whole Lace society fascinating. Even if you don't like this, you might try Hardinge's Well Witched. It's a much tighter story -- shorter and better paced -- but still shows Hardinge's strength with language / description.
