Have you finished A Conspiracy of Kings yet? If you have, there is a quiz to test your knowledge of the fine details. Find the box for ACoK sort of in the middle of the page and click the quiz button to make a popup appear. Considering the amount of scrutiny that Sounisians put into the stories during general discussion, I'm expecting perfect scores all around.

So, I don't have photoshop skills or, apparently, embedding-images skills, but here's a quick sketch. Sophos is nabbed, he breaks the amphora and everyone draws their weapons and flees. Poor Sophos is knocked down, but his father grabs his hand and swings him up onto the... jeep.

Huh, what does that mean?

I have not actually read the final version yet except skipping through it a bit. I'm waiting for the ARC to fade in my memory which it has not. Damn quiz dredging stuff up again.

Also it is 1am and I should sleeeeeeep.

Hmph. I'm a little disgruntled about the quiz actually. I had seen it a couple days ago and was sailing through the questions (honestly, there was no challenge in them for a MWT fan who reads obsessively and had already read the book twice... or so I thought) until #6. The fleeing one. I picked on foot, recalling two things - falling off the horse and racing for the gates and feeling his way *on foot* through familiar fields etc. I was a little peeved to see that I was marked wrong. I guess I can see the reason for the correct answer, but really I think the answer is both, so rather a trick question.

Was it just me? Did it fool anyone else? I feel humiliated to get one wrong, LOL.

I thought the same thing about the "why did they let him eat first" question because I think it started out as his mankiller reputation, but didn't necessarily end that way. From the brief descriptions of Sophos's stature, I wouldn't be surprised if it was also partly because of how intimidating he looks, and I think he mentions that they treat his poetry as a valuable commodity.
Really all of the options seemed to make sense to me.

Don't feel humiliated. Sophos fleed both on foot and on horse. It was a badly written question. Sort reminded me of English tests. Fear not, you are still worthy. After all, you got all the other ones right, although I agree they were way too easy. For a quiz to be any type of challenge for people from this site, the questions would have to be something like this:

On page 115, what is the first sentence of the second paragraph? No multiple choice.

No! I was annoyed at that too. He ran from the actual banquet on foot and did quite a bit of running. But from how the other questions were worded I chose the other option.

Someone needs to write a better quiz...any takers?

I think I'm up to the challenge. I have to admit that after working on it for a couple hours I am a little more sympathetic toward the writers of that quiz. The reason? Well, with multiple choice it's really hard to fool people. But if I don't do multiple choice people will post their answers in the comments and the first person to get them right will spoil it for everyone else, so multiple choice it is, I guess. I'll try to have one up by tonight.

The first time this link was posted, I remember 'attempting' it for fun and died by the 2nd question lamo
Now that I read the book, I had my redemption and it was a LOT easier, though I admit the last question I was stumped as I didn't remember the quote.

That quiz was rather easy. We should put together a really good one. ("Good" meaing "only nerds/sounisians get ANY of the questions right".)

A quiz of my own making

After griping about the above quiz, I decided to make my own:

http://www.quizyourfriends.com/take-quiz.php?id=1003291702554501&a=1&

I will admit to being much more sympathetic to the makers of the other quiz after attempting this. It's very hard to think of questions difficult for Sounisians that are multiple choice. I would have fared better with fill in the blank. Nevertheless, it was fun.

Good luck to anyone who wants to try it! And no peeking in the book! :)

Hm, I'm trying to figure out how to answer without providing my own spoiler. I can tell you it's on p.33 in KoA. It's the scene between the two you mentioned about who let the dogs out. I wondered if that one was a little too much conjecture because it's not quite worded that way in KoA.

That was great! I got 80%, I knew Malatesta would be my undoing and I got the # of seals wrong. I definitely think Sounisians make better quizzes :) My favorite ones are attributing who says what lines.

Failed at one question - what Sophos said he and the Magus had been carrying. Honestly, matched gemstones? of COURSE they're earrings. It was implied, even if he didn't say, "yeah, they're earrings".

LOL SOPHOS ESCAPE BY JEEP!!!
