Diana Wynne Jones, after much consultation with her husband and specialists, has decided to abandon chemotherapy (which is serving only to make her feel very ill indeed) and resign herself to whatever may follow. Her senior oncologist fears she has 'months rather than years', but we all hope that – as once or twice before – Diana can still surprise the medical profession. May the good luck return.

As someone in the other community said - I guess it's time to write that fan-letter I've been composing in my head for years. Of all authors' books, I think hers are the ones that had the most impact on me, and their still my veru first choice for comfort reading. Not even Harry Potter, or Pratchett or MWT come close.

The world is so close now to losing one of the best authors of all time in my opinion. I hope she feels better now that she has stopped the chemo. As much as it would have helped some people, it must have been serving to make the experience that much worse without helping at all. My thoughts are with her and her family.
